Pause for Journalism

Hi everyone,

I’ll be pausing this Substack indefinitely so I can go back to school. I’ll be taking a two-year journalism course at UCLA. I hope to expand my writing knowledge, learn some new tricks, and become a better version of myself. I say “pause” because you never know. Whether I return to Substack is unknown because two years is a long time. In the meantime, I’ll be working on my novel, short fiction, Five South, and now school. Something had to give. It’s a good idea and it’s been a lot of fun, but it’s also very time consuming.

I appreciate all of you, your attention, and your engagement. I love this Substack and I hate to think this is the end, but you never know. A journalist friend of mine just got hired to write an opera—proof life takes you to places you never expect. I’ll continue working on Five South, so you can find me there. Keep reading the lit journals and looking for those gold nuggets buried under all the auto-fiction. Payments are “paused” but if you know how to cancel your paid subscription, you should go ahead and do that. Until we meet again. ~Kristen
